Charles E. Brown, Sr., 57 of New Bethlehem, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, September 28.

He was born on January 21, 1956, in Kittanning and son of the late Oscar N. and Virginia (Patterson) Brown, Sr.

He worked for the New Bethlehem Burial Service for 36 years. He enjoyed played cards and Bingo at Broadwood Towers. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in New Bethlehem.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan Bowser and husband Philip of Sligo, two sons, Charles E. Brown, Jr. of New Bethlehem and Brandon Brown of South Bethlehem, two granddaughters, Sierra Mae Brown and Kiara Mae Bowser, four sisters, Mary White and husband John of Oak Ridge, Rosetta Bowser and husband Clifford of Climax, Lois Valjean Snyder of Rimersburg and Stella Zubik of Butler, and seven brothers, Oscar Brown, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Clarion, Leroy Brown of Erie, William Brown of New Bethlehem, Robert Brown of Clarion, Ronald Brown and wife Etta Mae of Distant, Alvin Brown of Distant, and John Brown of Texas.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 2 from 6 – 9 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Lyle Westover officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.
