FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – Some might say that the height of a global pandemic is not the best time to open a business. However, the timing suited Chasity and Todd Zahner as their dream of a breakfast sandwich business fit perfectly in an environment where people pop in and out for food.

The Zahners opened City Grub in May, and the business has quickly found its footing as a breakfast destination as people rush off to school or work.

Chasity Zahner said that the lack of a huge grand opening was exactly what City Grub needed.

“We opened during the start of COVID,” she said. “Sometimes, when you have a huge opening, it’s not the greatest. I wanted to have a small opening. And we took off.”

City Grub focuses on breakfast and lunch sandwiches, soups, and desserts. The goal was to open a fast sandwich shop like the old mom-and-pop corner stores with penny candy.
