Clarence W. Hale

Clarence W. Hale, 80, of 5409 Camp Coffman Road, Oil City, died Tuesday afternoon at St Vincent Health Care in Erie.

Born May 7, 1932 in Venus, he was a son of the late Simon and Florence Smith Hale.

Mr. Hale was a 1951 graduate of Cranberry High School.

He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954, stationed at Fort Hood Texas.

Mr. Hale worked for 37 ½ years at National Fuel, retiring in 1985.

He had been President of the Fertigs Cemetery Association.

On June 23, 1956 he married the former Nancy J. Sharrar, who preceded him in death on March 1, 1983.

Surviving are two sons, Clarence Hale Jr. and wife Rosemary, and Stephen Hale and wife Debra, all of Venus; three grandchildren, Misty Hutchinson and husband Brian, Joshua Hale and wife Dee, and Mindy Hale; and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Bradley Hale, a brother, Frank Hale, and two sisters, Hazel Snyder and Dorothy Williams.

There will be no visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Fertigs Cemetery.

The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to a charity of one’s choice.
