CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man allegedly broke into a home and damaged a garage door on June 18, left several firearms in the residence, and when confronted by the owner in a phone call, said “Just send me the ****** bill.”

According to a criminal complaint, Roy William Ziegler, 69, faces several charges following the incident.

Police spoke with the 45-year-old female owner of the residence, who said she was cleaning a portion of the property for a new tenant to move in when she noticed about nine firearms in the garage that did not belong to her, the complaint states.

The victim said she spoke to a neighbor who witnessed the incident and learned Ziegler allegedly entered the garage carrying items hidden under a blanket, and the garage door was broken causing the lock to malfunction and a large dent was visible on the outside bottom of the door. Police estimated the damage at $200.00, the complaint indicates.

The victim told police Ziegler does not have permission to be on her property, and she had previously advised him if he needed anything he was to contact her first. Police observed a “No Trespassing” sign posted and clearly visible to anyone on the property, the complaint continues.

The victim said she contacted Ziegler on the phone to ask him about the incident, and Ziegler allegedly admitted he had broken into the structure, saying “Just send me the ******* bill.” She also told police Ziegler allegedly said “I did it, I did it,” and hung up on her, according to the complaint.

Police spoke with a witness who lives nearby and could clearly see the garage from their home. The witness knows Ziegler well and allegedly saw him sit in a truck in front of the garage, the complaint states.

“I then saw (Ziegler) get out of his truck and kick the bottom of (the victim’s) garage door,” the witness said. “He opened the garage and carried items under a blanket inside the garage,” the complaint indicates

The witness said Ziegler was allegedly in the garage for about 15 minutes, according to the complaint.

Police spoke to the victim again, who said Ziegler had contacted her on the phone and allegedly told her he would have someone pick up the firearms he had put in the garage. The victim said she told Ziegler police had been to the garage and had taken the firearms, the complaint indicates.

Ziegler allegedly became angry and threatened a relative of the victim by saying “If I see him out, he’s dead. I’ve got my gun here with me, and if I go to jail for any reason, you can tell (the witness) and (another relative of the victim) they are dead, too,” according to the complaint.

The victim told police she believes Ziegler’s threats are real, and he is capable of walking into anyone’s house and killing them, the complaint continues.

Court documents state Ziegler faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Trespass-Break Into Structure, Felony 2
  • Possession Of Firearm Prohibited, Felony 2
  • Terroristic Threats W/ Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
  • Criminal Mischief — Damage Property, Summary

Online court documents indicate Ziegler had a preliminary arraignment on June 29 before Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish and was placed in the Venango County Jail in lieu of $35,000.00 bail.

Ziegler is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. on July 15 in Venango County Central Court with Judge Fish presiding.
