(EYT) – Members of local band Constant Distraction were pleasantly surprised when they received a Facebook message from the owner of a national music booking agency inviting them to participate in Gorilla Music Battle of the Bands in Pittsburgh.

Constant Distraction, an alternative band from Venango County, will participate in the Battle of the Bands Concert Series on Sunday, June 28, at The Rex Theater in Pittsburgh.

The series, held in 65 different cities nationwide, provides local bands with the opportunity to expand their musical presence and open doors in the music industry.

When asked how the band reacted to being chosen to perform, lead singer Randy Moorehead said, “We were pretty excited and kinda shocked.”

According to Moorehead, the group wondered how Gorilla Music discovered Constant Distraction.

“Though we are regionally close to Pittsburgh, we have never had any musical presence there,” he said.

In addition to lead singer Moorehead, Constant Distraction also includes members Elliot Grandelis on Guitar, Matt Gahr on Bass, and Chase Reed on Drums.

“We are pumped to take the opportunity to share our music with a new potential fan base, ” said Moorehead. “In the very least, I’m sure it will be an opportunity for us to gain an experience none of us will ever forget.”

Locals can support Constant Distraction at Battle of the Bands by purchasing tickets from the band and attending the day of the event. Members of Constant Distraction have 50 pre-sale tickets available for $10.00 each.

Tickets will also be available for the 4:00 p.m. show at the door for $12.00.

The Rex Theater is located at 1602 E. Carson Street, Pittsburgh, Pa.

Constant Distraction will also be raising money for a cause at shows they perform in the area this summer.

During their performances at Taste of Talent, Rocky Grove Fair, Music on the Square, and The Cranberry Fireworks Festival the band will set out a donation jar to assist with a fundraising campaign for Family Service & Children’s Aid Society of Venango County. This organization works to prevent violence, protect victims and advocate for change in attitudes about victimization by providing prevention education programs, supportive services, and by promoting social change in the community.

To help support the cause, Constant Distraction has also created a Go Fund Me account. To donate, visit www.gofundme.com.
