Deer vs. Motorcycle Crash on Route 338, Emlenton Man Injured

BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Clarion-based State Police, around 7:45 p.m. on April 12, a deer versus motorcycle accident occurred on State Route 338, 344 feet north of Interstate 80 West, in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

Police say 54-year-old David B. Black, of Emlenton, was traveling south on SR 338, and a deer ran into the path of his 2014 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide from the east berm.

The motorcycle impacted the deer with its front fender/forks area, causing the motorcycle to fall on its left side, according to police.

After the initial impact with the deer, the motorcycle slid approximately 46’6″ gouging the roadway as it slid. After being struck by the motorcycle, the deer came to a final rest along the eastern berm approximately 306’10” from the point of impact, police say.

The motorcycle continued sliding south and impacted a guide rail along the western berm approximately 239’3″ from the initial impact point. The motorcycle continued sliding along the southbound lane of SR 338, depositing Black approximately 427’10” from the initial impact point, according to police.

The motorcycle came to a final rest approximately 26′ south of Black, police say.

Black suffered moderate injuries; he was transported to Clarion Hospital.

Knox Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
