MARIENVILLE, Pa. — Hard work paid off for Kindergartners at East Forest, as the class celebrated the completion of their book “The Magic Puppy.”

The students began the project by brain-storming ideas, characters, and settings for the book. Once they voted on their topic, it wasn’t long before their story began to come together. The class wrote their first draft, followed by revising and proof-reading.

When the students felt that the story was complete, they began by illustrating each page of the story. Following the completion of the illustrations, a vote was taken on the title and dedication page. The winning title was “The Magic Puppy,” and the winning dedication was to Pet Owners.

A contest was held on designing the cover, title page, and dedication page. The winner for the book’s cover was Jalynn Weiss. The title page winner was Kailey Gregory, and the dedication page was Willa Heferle.

“The Magic Puppy” is a story about a puppy that has magic powers and is able to leave his house by using his powers to open doors and locks in order to look for his favorite thing, ice cream.
