Erba Irene Powell Burlingame

Erba Irene Powell Burlingame, 64 left this world on Friday, December 29, 2017 with her family by her side, ready to be greeted by her late husband Tom and meet the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Erba was born in Buffalo, New York on July 15, 1953 a daughter of Homer and Alvira Coon Peterson.  She married Thomas Powell on May 7, 1977 and he preceded her in death on May 4, 1979.

She was a 1972 graduate of Cochranton High School and worked at GTI in Saegertown. She later worked for 39 years in Environmental Services at the Meadville Medical Center until retirement.

Her biggest accomplishments were her family and circle of friends.  She enjoyed being a wife, daughter, sister and aunt.

She was an active member of the Cochranton Grange and attended prayer and singles groups with many friends especially Mike, Judy, Bob, Sandy and Phil. She also enjoyed watching Shirley Temple movies and going to the Senior Day Care at the Casino in Erie. Receiving cards and visits meant a great deal to her and the care that Hospice and Dr. Landefeld gave her was greatly appreciated.

Survivors include her parents, Homer and Alvira Peterson of Meadville, two brothers, Ted Peterson and his wife Chris of Cochranton and Keith Peterson and his wife Diane of Cochranton, two sisters, Ida Morrison and her husband Bob of Cochranton and Sandy Howick and her husband Al Howick Jr. of Meadville. Ten nieces and nephews, Mike Peterson, Stacy Vannell, Carrie Cooper, Bobbie Jo Carroll, Susan Maziarz, Todd and Chad Howick which are Erba’s God Sons, Heather Eitel, and Brad and Ross Peterson.  Several great nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

In addition to her husband Tom, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Chester and Erba Cole Coon, and Theodore and Genevieve Williams Peterson.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.  The funeral will be 11:00am Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Russell Hines, officiating.  Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made in Erba’s name to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville.
