OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Arts Council is gearing up for its first-ever FAM Jam.

The event is set for Saturday, May 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in Justus Park in downtown Oil City, along the beautiful Allegheny River.

Artwork will be created on-site by a variety of 20+ local artists with mediums such as watercolor, oil and acrylic paints, sketching, pottery making, jewelry making, sketching, cartooning and more. The pieces created will not be for sale at the event but will be later auctioned off in the Graffiti Gallery on June 4 and 5.

Food trucks that will be on hand to provide FAM Jam attendees with an array of awesome food choices include: Tickle My Ribs from Franklin (Bar-b-q, ribs, brisket and pulled pork); Tuxedo Dogz and Catering from Erie (Hot dogs, walking tacos and pulled pork); The Magic Bus from Titusville (Burgers, fries, Mexican corn and tacos); Buds Pizza from Oil City (Pizza); The Big Cheese from Waterford (Grilled cheese, Mac and cheese); Donut Factory from Franklin (Fancy fresh made donuts and desserts); and Riverside Brewery from Cambridge Springs (Beer, on tap and by the can Maple treats).

Live entertainment will be provided by two different bands, both making their first appearance in Oil City.

Derek Davis will start off the afternoon, performing from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Derek Davis provides renditions of eclectic covers spanning from old country, rock, pop, hip hop and everything in between as well as genre-defying, truth-driven originals you’ll swear you’ve heard a hundred times before. Derek Davis has performed on big city stages and back porch stages and has shared the stage with national acts such as Three Dog Night, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Rusted Rood and Chris Higsbee.

Angel Blue Band, aka Angel Blue and the Prophets, will perform from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The group hails from Pittsburgh and has performed for over 20 years in Pennsylvania and many other surrounding states extending into North Carolina. Their style is a fun, energetic and soulful blend of rock, blues rock, southern rock and R&B dance from the 50’s to present in their own signature style. Powerhouse vocalist Angelina Blue takes the audience for a ride with her great vocal range and dynamics. Their music includes original music that is played in their hometown of Pittsburgh as well as blues stations in Europe. They were voted 1st Place as Pittsburgh’s Best Original Band by fans of radio stations Bob-FM in Pittsburgh. They have placed within the top three in many competitions competing with numerous states and have opened for many national acts such as The Charlie Daniels Band, Blues Traveler, Dick Dale and many others.

“FAM Jam is a great opportunity to bring the community and the arts together,” stated Christine Manning, Vice President of the Oil City Arts Council and one of the event organizers. “People can get a peek at what really goes into the artwork and the people that create them. Every piece has a story, and this is a chance to share those stories.”
