VICTORY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Firefighters from a dozen different companies throughout the area battled a residential structure fire that occurred in Victory Township, Venango County this morning.

According to Gerry Rae, Chief of Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, they were called to a blaze, along with eleven other fire companies from around the area, at a residence near 2683 Old State Route 8 in Victory Township around 6:40 a.m.

“The second floor was fully involved when we got on the scene,” Rae told ExploreVenango.com.

“There was already heavy fire damage at that point, but we were able to contain it.”

According to Rae, the couple who own the residence had left the property about an hour prior to the discovery of the blaze.

While the structure is still standing following the fire, Rae noted it sustained serious damage.

“The roof came down into the second floor and the far back corner of second-floor came down into the first floor. We were not able to make a second-floor attack on the fire because of the roof coming in. Everything had to be done from ladders through the windows.”
