Franklin Baseball Bests North East

NORTH EAST, Pa. — Trailing 3-1 after three innings, the Franklin Knights controlled the late innings in a 7-4 win over North East on Friday.

The Knights tied the game in the fourth courtesy of a double by Noah Kockler and an RBI groundout by Zach Boland. After a North East home run gave the Grape Pickers a one-run lead, Luke Guth responded with a two-run bomb to put Franklin on top, 5-4. The contest would remain scoreless until the seventh when Franklin would score a pair of insurance runs on a two-RBI double by Kadin Karns.

Guth went 2-for-4 with a home run for Franklin, while Kockler also went 2-for-4 with two doubles. Kockler and Guth shared the work on the mound for Franklin, with Kockler throwing five innings and giving up four runs. Guth pitched the final two innings, giving up one hit and striking out six.
