FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin man waived his hearing on Wednesday on charges related to an incident on New Year’s Eve where he allegedly threatened to kill a man and a woman and burn down their house.

Court documents indicate the following charges against 20-year-old Jarred Tyrone Becoate were waived for court on Wednesday, January 15:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Aggravated Assault, Felony 2 (two counts)
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
– Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1 (three counts)

The charges have been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Unable to post $50,000.00 monetary bail, Becoate remains lodged in the Venango County Jail.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred just before midnight on New Year’s Eve.

According to a criminal complaint, around 11:57 a.m. on December 31, 2019, Patrolman Gilchrist, of the Franklin Police Department, was dispatched to Grant Street for a report of a male who was “out of control” and had fled a residence.

Patrolman Gilchrist then made contact with Jarred Becoate in the 300 Block of Pacific Street.

The complaint notes Becoate “showed aggressive behavior” before Patrolman Gilchrist arrived at the scene by punching holes in the walls and destroying property in the home that did not belong to him.

Becoate also allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with a known male victim during which Becoate was reported to have punched the victim in the right eye, causing bodily injury, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Becoate then armed himself with two kitchen knives and threatened to kill the known male victim and a known female victim and burn down their home.

Becoate’s behavior and the threats were an “ongoing course of conduct for approximately three days,” according to the complaint.

Becoate was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31.
