Franklin Man Allegedly Threatens to Kill Female Victim, Jailed on $225,000 Bail

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin Police say officers received a complaint of a Franklin man allegedly threatening to kill a female victim with a gun outside Sheetz store on Liberty Street, in Franklin, Venango County.

According to police, around 4:14 p.m. on July 4, 20-year-old Michael Paul Shoffstall, of Franklin, was allegedly brandishing a handgun to the Franklin female victim outside the store, as well.

Officers had a description of the male who was located and apprehended in the 500 block of 12th Street in Franklin following the incident.

Police say Shoffstall was initially detained and then placed under arrest and transported to Franklin Police Department to await arraignment.

During the course of the investigation, the firearm utilized by the suspect was recovered in another location and was seized for evidence.

The firearm was found to be an air gun.

Shoffstall was charged via criminal complaint for the following offenses:

– Terroristic Threats
– Simple Assault by Physical Menace
– Disorderly Conduct

He was arraigned by District Judge Andrew Fish who remanded him to Venango County Jail on $225,000.00 straight bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on July 9.
