SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A hearing is scheduled for next week for a Franklin man facing criminal charges related to an incident where he allegedly caused a disturbance at a local golf course and then broke into a woman’s nearby home, all while under the influence of methamphetamine.

Court documents indicate 42-year-old Wade Everett Geer is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, on the following charges:

Geer remains lodged in the Venango County Jail on $25,000.00 monetary bail.

The charges stem from an incident in Sugarcreek Borough in early June.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 10:35 a.m. on June 13, Franklin-based State Police were dispatched to the area of the 700 block of State Route 427 in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County, for a report of a disorderly male.

The complaint states that Wade Everett Geer had been operating his vehicle from the 100 to the 700 block of State Route 427 while impaired by methamphetamine. Geer reportedly was so impaired he believed unknown men were trying to kill him. He then drove onto the parking lot of a local golf course.

The complaint notes Geer’s vehicle, a gray 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, did not have a valid registration, the registration was not on the vehicle, it had no insurance, and the inspection had expired in January 2020. Police also discovered Geer’s license was both suspended and expired, and he did not have his license with him.

According to the complaint, at the golf course, Geer exited his vehicle and began screaming about people attempting to kill him. He reportedly had a pool stick with him, which he carried in one hand, and ran up to golfers and screamed at them. He then continued onto an adjacent property and approached an elderly woman in her yard.

The complaint states Geer screamed at the woman to “get her guns,” and which point she went inside and locked her doors. She then saw Geer kicking her attached garage door and caused damage to her door jamb, before entering her home.

Police found Geer inside the woman’s garage with a large crescent wrench. He was ordered, at gunpoint, to drop the wrench, and he complied. He was then taken into custody.

During an interview, Geer reportedly confessed to the disturbance at the golf course and at the female victim’s residence. He was then taken to UPMC Northwest for a blood draw, according to the complaint.

Geer was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 3:50 p.m. on June 13.
