FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Charges have been filed against a Franklin man who is accused of punching and tackling another man during an incident at a local residence on Sunday night.

Court documents indicate the Franklin Police Department filed criminal charges against 29-year-old Brandon Scott Alford.

According to a criminal complaint, around 8:31 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, Franklin Police were dispatched to a residence on New Street for a report of an unwanted individual “fighting” at the residence.

When police arrived at the scene, they entered the residence and observed Brandon Scott Alford “actively fighting” with a known victim, the complaint states.

The victim was on his back with Alford reportedly straddling him. Alford was subsequently removed and placed under arrest, according to the complaint.

The complaint indicates that the victim told police Alford had struck him several times in the face with a closed fist and tackled him to the ground through a large lamp.

The complaint notes that the victim suffered injuries to his face and mouth along with a cut on his finger, which he reported was from being bitten by Alford.

Alford was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 1:30 p.m. on January 31, on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

He remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on February 9 with Judge Lowrey presiding.
