Franklin Man Facing Assault, Witness Intimidation Charges

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — According to the Franklin Police Department, an assault occurred on Grant Street in Franklin at approximately 2:15 a.m. on July 26, 2014.

Police say Darnell Maurice Butler, 47, allegedly assaulted a male victim in the 200 block of Grant Street as the victim was walking home.

According to police, the victim in this incident was both a victim and witness in a previous domestic violence case where Butler was charged with assaulting the same victim and another female.

Following this incident, Butler was charged with:

– Retaliation Against Witnesses or Victims, Felony 3
– Intimidation of Witnesses or Victims, Misdemeanor 2
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Police report Butler was arrested and arraigned by District Judge Lowrey before being committed to the Venango County Jail.
