FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man pled guilty Monday, May 23, to sexually assaulting a woman last September in Cornplanter Twp., Venango County.

Franklin-based State Police filed the following charges against 23-year-old Cody Alan Lewis on Oct. 23, 2015:

  • Rape Forcible Compulsion, Felony 1
  • Sexual Assault, Felony 2
  • Aggravated Indecent Assault Without Consent, Felony 2

According to a criminal complaint filed at Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office, the investigation was initiated on Sept. 16, 2015, around 8 p.m., when the female victim arrived at the State Police barracks in Franklin to report that she had been raped.

Lewis entered a plea deal Monday. He plead guilty to one count of Indecent Assault Without Consent, Misdemeanor 2. Lewis can be imprisoned for a maximum of two years under state law.

Lewis has been free on an unsecured bail bond of $50,000.00.

Venango County District Attorney Sean White told exploreVenango.com that there will be “SORNA (Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act) implications,” meaning it’s likely that Lewis will be required to register as a sex offender.

White declined to comment further on the pending case.

Lewis’s sentencing is set for August 29, 2016.
