VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin woman charged with leaving three young children unattended in her vehicle was held for court on Wednesday.

Court documents indicate the following charges against 28-year-old Mckynna Glas were held for court on Wednesday, June 24:

– Endangering Welfare of Children – Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1 (three counts)
– Leaving Child Unattended In Vehicle, Summary (three counts)

The charges have been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Glas is currently free on $25,000.00 unsecured bail.

The charges stem from a report made to the Oil City Police Department on June 8.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, Oil City Police were dispatched to Linden Avenue around 10:10 a.m. on June 8 for a report of an older white Jeep Grand Cherokee with “three children inside the vehicle and that the mother keeps running inside and leaving the kids behind.”

As the officers were responding, dispatch relayed the Jeep was leaving the area, heading toward Deer Street.

Officers found the described vehicle parked on the side of Hoffman Avenue, facing east, with a female standing at the back driver’s side door, and another female standing on the sidewalk. The woman on the sidewalk stated “the mother of the kids just ran out of the vehicle and left her three children in the back of the car,” according to the complaint.

Officers checked the vehicle and found three children in the back seat.

The woman at the scene identified the children’s mother as Mckynna Glas. Police then contacted Venango County Children and Youth Services (CYS) for the protection and safety of the children, who were six years old, two years old, and seven months old, the complaint notes.

According to the complaint, Glas did return to the scene after speaking with CYS approximately one hour and thirty minutes later. She was then taken into custody.

Glas was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish at 2:00 p.m. on June 8.
