FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin woman is facing a hearing on Wednesday on child endangerment charges after her one-year-old child was reportedly found wandering in the middle of an intersection in Franklin.

Court documents indicate 31-year-old Lisa Marie Steetle is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 3:00 p.m. on August 12 on one first-degree misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred in Franklin in late June.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, on June 30, Franklin Police were dispatched to a report of a child near the roadway at the intersection of Third Street and Bully Hill in Franklin, Venango County.

At the scene, police spoke to a witness who reported she was traveling in her vehicle on Third Street, approaching the intersection, when she saw a small child in the middle of the intersection attempting to walk uphill on the roadway, wearing only a diaper. She described the child as a male, approximately one year old, with blond hair.

The complaint notes the witness told police no parent or adult was visible when she took the child out of the roadway. The witness reported Lisa Marie Steetle then exited a house and took custody of the child about fifteen seconds after she first picked the child up in the roadway.

According to the complaint, Steetle was determined to be the mother of the child discovered in the roadway.

The charge was filed against Steetle through Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office on Monday, July 6.
