Franklin Woman Facing Charges for False Allegation of Rape

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin woman is facing criminal charges for falsely reporting that she had been raped.

Court documents indicate the Franklin Police Department on February 28 filed criminal charges against 34-year-old Dawn Diane Kinch, of Franklin.

According to a criminal complaint, on February 24, Patrolman Gilchrist, of the Franklin Police Department, interviewed Dawn Kinch regarding the details of an allegation of rape made against a known man on February 16.

According to the complaint, Kinch admitted that she had lied about the rape and said the sex was consensual.

She also provided a written statement acknowledging she had provided a false report of rape.

The following charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office:

– Unsworn Falsification to Authorities, Misdemeanor 2
– False Report — Falsely Incriminate Another, Misdemeanor 2

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, with Judge Kirtland presiding.
