Franklin Woman Injured After Falling Asleep at the Wheel, Rolls Vehicle on Route 8

IRWIN TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Franklin woman was injured after she fell asleep at the wheel of her vehicle while traveling in Route 8 and rolled it onto its side earlier this month.

According to Franklin-based State Police, the accident happened around 3:19 p.m. on July 12, on State Route 8 just north of Dennison Run Road, in Irwin Township, Venango County.

Police say 43-year-old Stephanie A. Kratzer, of Franklin, was operating a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado traveling north on State Route 8 when she fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle. She then attempted to regain control but overcorrected, and the vehicle rolled along the right side of the roadway. It came to a final rest on its passenger side.

Kratzer had to be extricated from the vehicle.

She suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance Service.

Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department and Hovis Truck Service also assisted at the scene.

Kratzer was cited for a traffic violation.
