Harold Lee “Blue” McCollough, 94, of Muncie, formerly of Chicora, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018.

Harold was born on August 27, 1924, in Fairview Township, Pennsylvania, to the late Harold Sr. and Florence (Double) McCollough. He was the oldest of seven children. He married Mary ArVeda Mortimer Overheim on April 24, 1965. He was known as “Blue” to all that loved him and will miss him dearly.

Harold was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Chicora, PA Lodge #962. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He served with the 617th ORD ARMD Maint BN, 3117th ORD ARMD Maint Co. and attained the rank of Tech 4. While in the service, he attended Catholic University in Washington DC, where he majored in chemistry.

After the war ended Harold worked for Sonneborn, Inc in Petrolia. In 1968, Sonneborn transferred their research and development lab to Gretna, LA and Harold worked as a junior chemist at this location until his retirement.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Patricia Overheim Pryor of Anderson, IN, five siblings, Thomas (Lorrie) of Tulsa, OK, Anna Dunlap of Chicora, Margaret Kirschbaumer of Brady’s Bend, Thelma Biagini of Belle Vernon and Marilyn (Terry) Corbett of Chicora, three grandchildren, Michael B. Pryor (Pamela) of Anderson, In, Alicia Overheim Aldy (Jimmy), and Donald K. Overheim II (Sara) of Watson, LA, six great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Pryor of Montezuma, IA, Lenni Kunert, Kelcie Overheim, Samuel Aldy, Kyleigh Overheim and Jake Aldy of Watson, LA. one great-great-grandchild, Brantley Baird of Montezuma, IA, as well a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife ArVeda, his son Donald K. Overheim, and a brother Allen McCollough.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main Street, Karns City, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora, officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the Chicora, Brady’s Bend and East Brady American Legion Post will be in Hillview Cemetery in the Village of Kepple’s Corners.

Memorial donations in Mr. McCollough’s name may be made to the Dementia Society of America (dementiasociety.com) or the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
