| March 31, 2015

IRWIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police say around 3:52 p.m. on March 30, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Melvin Road, 525 feet west of Eakin Road, in Irwin Township, Venango County.

According to police, 27-year-old Samantha E. Layman, of Harrisville, was traveling west on Melvin Road when she started to lose control of her 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer. The vehicle swerved into the eastbound lane and then traveled back into the westbound lane.

Police say the vehicle continued to travel northwest off the roadway, hitting an embankment with the right front of the vehicle and then continued in a northwest manner and struck a tree with the right front of the vehicle, causing it to spin clockwise.

The left rear wheel of the vehicle dug into the pavement and caused it to overturn onto its roof and spin clockwise two or three times, according to police.

The vehicle came to a final rest on its roof facing northeast, police say.

Superior Ambulance transported Layman to Grove City Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Her passenger, 26-year-old Jonathan M. Gbur, of Harrisville, was not injured.

Both occupants were using seat belts.

Layman was charged with a traffic violation.

Superior Ambulance, Clintonville Fire Department, and Hovis Auto Wrecking assisted at the scene.
