VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City man is facing a hearing on Wednesday on felony burglary and related charges for allegedly stealing packages from a housing unit in Oil City.

Court documents indicate 52-year-old Scott L Wood is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in Venango County Central Court at 8:30 a.m. on January 27, on the following charges:

– Burglary – Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, Person Present, Felony 1

– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 2
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 2

He is currently free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.

The charges stem from an investigation into a report of theft in late October 2020.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 10:25 p.m. on October 29, Oil City Police received a report of a theft at Moran Towers that occurred around 5:08 p.m. on October 20. It was reported that a man entered Moran Towers and stole a package that was addressed to the Venango county Housing Authority and another package that belonged to another victim.

Police were able to obtain video and photo images of the man, and he was then identified as Scott L Wood.

Following the theft, Wood left the location in a gray sedan, the complaint indicates.

According to the complaint, Wood is not a resident of Moran Towers and did not have direct access to the secured building. He was reportedly seen at 5:08 a.m. on October 20, entering the main entrance behind an unsuspecting person who had access to the building.

Wood was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish on October 30.
