Earlier this week, exploreClarion.com published an article informing the public that Schneider’s Dairy took on four local dairy farms — The Ron McHenry farm, the Barnett farm, and Henry Farms, all in Knox, and the Mitch Hill Farm, in Venus, as suppliers, effective Sunday, April 1.
The four local farms were part of the 42 Pennsylvania dairy farms that recently received contract termination letters from Dean Foods.
According to a statement from Dean Foods, the reasons for terminating producer contracts include, “The introduction of new plants at a time when there is an industry-wide surplus of fluid milk processing capacity” and losing milk volume at “higher levels than anticipated” during this time of increased volume competition.
