Highway Breakdown Leads to Unanticipated Arrest in Venango County

CRANBERRY TWP, Pa. – A routine check on a disabled motorist led to the arrest of a Philadelphia man on an outstanding warrant from Kansas.

The incident occurred on State Route 257 in Cranberry Township, Venango County, on January 24, 2024, at 9:55 AM.

John Rogers, 57, was stranded when Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Franklin patrol unit was called to the location. Upon making contact with the driver, PSP Franklin discovered that Rogers had an outstanding felony warrant from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas.

Following confirmation of the warrant, which was a full extradition felony, charges were filed through MDJ 28-3-04. Rogers was subsequently lodged in the Venango County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Kansas.

Police did not indicate the nature of Rogers’ charges in Kansas.

The disabled vehicle, a 2014 Freightliner truck, was towed from the scene.
