Icy Roadway Causes One-Vehicle Crash in Sugarcreek Borough

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — State police say road conditions caused a one-vehicle crash earlier this week in Sugarcreek Borough.

According to Franklin-based State Police, the crash occurred around 7:41 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, on Meadville Pike in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County.

Police say a 2006 Toyota XA was traveling south on Meadville Pike when it struck a patch of black ice and lost control. The vehicle crossed the northbound lane and struck the eastbound concrete curb. It came to a final rest on the curb facing east.

The vehicle sustained damage to the front driver side rim, the front bumper, and the fender.

The driver related she was traveling approximately 30 mph and was using her seat belt.

PennDOT was notified by PSP Franklin regarding damage to a road sign.

Lowry’s Auto Body assisted at the scene.

The name of the driver was not released.
