TITUSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop E Corry, along with the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office filed charges yesterday against a former Titusville Police Officer.

According to police, the charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred shortly after noon on July 24, 2014, where it is alleged that Officer Clarence Lee Peterson, 55, of Titusville, who was on duty, approached a female clerk at Spanky’s Tobacco World, located at 11560 Hydetown Road, in Oil Creek Township, Crawford County.

Police say Peterson allegedly grabbed and/or caressed the victim’s left buttock area without her consent while she was stocking shelves at the store.

An investigation by the Criminal Investigation Unit at PSP Corry led to the charges being filed yesterday.

Peterson was charged with one misdemeanor count of Indecent Assault and one summary count of Harassment at District Judge Amy Nichols office in Titusville.

Peterson will be notified on the charges via summons.

Chief Gary Thomas, of the Titusville Police Department, advised that Officer Peterson is no longer employed by the Titusville Police Department after resigning on August 1, 2014.
