Juvenile Flees from Walmart Loss Prevention Officer, Uses Mom as Getaway Driver

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a retail theft occurred at Walmart, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to police, a known, female juvenile was shopping in Walmart and was observed placing items inside her backpack.

She then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items concealed in her backpack and was stopped by Walmart Loss Prevention. Then, she dumped the items out of her backpack and fled the store, police say.

The suspect “yelled for her mother who was parked in front of Walmart store in a pickup;”…the suspect “threw her backpack into the rear of the pickup truck and ran on foot” towards a fast food restaurant, according to police.

Police say “the accused was then picked up by her mother” near the fast food restaurant and fled east on State Route 322.

The juvenile was stopped in a nearby business parking lot and was arrested for Retail Theft.

The total value of items is $50.91.
