ROCKLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Kennerdell man who allegedly took an ATV without the owner’s permission was found with the vehicle and in posession of suspected methamphetamine.

Court documents indicate 23-year-old Devon Scott Anthony, of Kennerdell, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in Venango County Central Court at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, on the following charges:

– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 2
– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 2
– Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

According to a criminal complaint, Trooper Young, of the Franklin-based State Police, was dispatched to a location on Kennerdell Road in Rockland Township on Saturday, June 8, for a report of a missing ATV.

A known victim reported that his ATV, a red 2003 Honda TRX 250, was missing. The victim said he left the ATV at the residence to prevent Devon Scott Anthony from taking it, and let his daughter ride it, but did not permit Anthony to ride it, the complaint states.

The complaint notes that in an interview, the victim’s daughter said she gave Anthony permission to ride the ATV.

Trooper Young then proceeded to a location on Newland Avenue in Titusville where he observed Anthony working on the ATV in question. The complaint notes that Trooper Young also observed a black bookbag lying next to some of Anthony’s clothing items.

Anthony was then placed under arrest for taking the ATV.

According to the complaint, Anthony advised police that he had “taken something” earlier in the day. A subsequent search of the black bookbag led to the discovery of 49 syringes, a metal straw, a metal spoon, and a clear plastic bag of suspected methamphetamine.

Based on the investigation, Anthony was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 8.

He is currently free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.
