Local Man Injured in Rollover Crash on State Route 157

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a local man was injured in a rollover crash that happened early Sunday morning on State Route 157.

The accident happened around 5:29 a.m. on Sunday, January 9, on State Route 157, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to Franklin-based State Police, 42-year-old Van C. Ringgold, of Oil City, was operating a 2005 Dodge Caravan traveling west on State Route 157 when the vehicle lost traction on the icy roadway and started to spin out of control.

The vehicle then traveled off the right side of the roadway, where it struck a large rock and then a ditch. After striking the ditch, it rolled over an unknown number of times before coming to rest back on its tires.

Ringgold suffered suspected minor injuries but was not transported.

He was using a seat belt.

Pinegrove Volunteer Fire Department, Seneca Volunteer Fire Department, and Venango Towing also assisted at the scene.

Ringgold was cited for a speed violation.
