Local Man Seriously Injured in Route 173 Rollover Crash

WAYNE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — An area man was seriously injured in a rollover crash that occurred on Wednesday night on State Route 173 in Wayne Township.

According to Meadville-based State Police, the crash happened around 7:58 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, on State Route 173, in Wayne Township, Crawford County.

Police say 58-year-old Lewis L. Murdock, of Cochranton, was operating a 2009 Toyota RAV4 and lost control of his vehicle causing it to travel off the roadway, strike a telephone pole, and overturn onto an embankment.

Murdock was extricated from the vehicle and flown to UPMC Hamot for treatment of serious injuries.

It is unknown if he was using a seat belt.

Murdock was charged with a traffic violation.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of this crash, according to police.
