Mr. Louis E. Strawbridge, 91, of 236 Cherrytree Rd. Titusville, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 29, 2017, at his residence.

Louis was born on October 11, 1925, in Titusville to the late Louis T. and Laura Joy Strawbridge. He married Hazel Deeter on June 27, 1953, in Oil City. She preceded him in death on September 2, 2001.

He attended Titusville schools and later worked as a “burner” for Conrail in Meadville until his retirement.

Louis was a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He joined the service in December of 1943 in Titusville and fought in the battle of Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in April 1946.

He was a member of St. Titus Church.

He was a member of the James G. Greer Post 1835 VFW and the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion.

Louis was a charter member of the Cherrytree Vol. Fire Dept. and served there for many years. He also enjoyed horses, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, and being with family and friends.

He is survived by his five children, Louis E. Strawbridge and wife Debra of Titusville, Kathy Biltz and husband Kim of Huntsville, AL, Susan Hoobler and husband William of Franklin, Patricia Turk of Oil City, and Dotty Haggerty and husband Michael of Titusville; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Louis was preceded in death by three brothers, John, William, and Joseph Strawbridge.

Family and Friends may call at the Hennes-Garrett Funeral Home 203 E. Main St. on Thursday, August 30, 2017, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, September 1, 2017, at St. Titus Church at 10:00 AM with Fr. Walter E. Packard, officiating.

Interment will be at St. Catharines Cemetery with full military honors being observed.
