MERCER CO., Pa. (EYT) – Police say charges have been filed against a man who allegedly attempted to gain access to a vehicle where two women were sitting outside a business near Grove City recently.

Mercer-based State Police were assigned to investigate an incident that allegedly occurred in the parking lot of a business in Pine Township, Mercer County, around 3:45 p.m. on February 4.

Police say two known adult female victims reported they had just completed shopping at the known business and returned to their vehicle in the parking lot when, while they were seated in the vehicle, a man approached the vehicle and attempted to gain access to it by pulling on the door handle several times. The victims then started the vehicle and fled the parking lot without further incident.

Police were then able to obtain video footage from the interior of the store, and the man was identified as 44-year-old Richard Russell Rohrer, of Grove City.

According to police, when Rohrer was interviewed on February 9, he confessed to the contact with the victims’ vehicle. However, the motivation for his actions is still unknown.

Police say after consultation with the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office, Rohrer is being charged with Disorderly Conduct and Harassment.

Grove City Police Department and Grove City College Campus Safety Department also assisted in the investigation.
