VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — A local man who reportedly punched an Oil City Police Officer waived his hearing in court on Wednesday.

Court documents indicate the following charges against 21-year-old Shane Michael Allison, of Oil City, were waived for court on February 24, on the following charges:

– Aggravated Assault — Attempts to cause or causes Serious Bodily Injury, Felony 1
– Disorderly Conduct Engage in Fighting, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

The charges have been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Allison is currently free on $15,000.00 monetary bail

The charges stem from an incident in Oil City in early January.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, Oil City Police called for Rescue 7 around 12:32 p.m. on January 3
to respond to Oil City Police Headquarters for a male in custody who was complaining of chest pain.

When officers were preparing the man, identified as Shane Allison, for transport, he became combative. Officers then attempted to restrain him and he reportedly struck Patrolman Orr in the left eye with a closed fist, the complaint indicates.

Allison then continued to resist attempts to restrain him after being told several times to place his hands behind his back so he could be safely taken to the hospital. Once he was placed in handcuffs, he was placed on a stretcher and transported to UPMC Northwest for evaluation, the complaint states.

Allison was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland on January 5.
