SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — Just two weeks after being sentenced on a previous harassment case, additional charges have been filed against a Franklin man accused of stalking and harassing a local woman.

Court documents indicate the Sugarcreek Borough Police filed criminal charges against 39-year-old Terrance Lawrence on July 30.

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:49 p.m. on July 30, Sugarcreek Borough Police were dispatched to an apartment on Crestview Drive in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County, to speak to a known victim.

Police observed the victim was visibly shaken and upset when they arrived at the scene.

According to the complaint, the victim reported that Terrance Lawrence had been texting and threatening her for the last week.

The victim told police that since around 6:00 p.m. that day, specifically, Lawrence had texted her approximately 200 times, using vulgar language, calling her obscene names, and indicating that he was in the area watching her, the complaint continues.

The victim asked Lawrence to stop contacting her multiple times, and after he continued to text her despite the requests, she blocked his number. Lawrence then reportedly began texting the victim’s children, according to the complaint.

Police found that Lawrence had propped open the rear door of the apartment complex with a stick. He was also reportedly seen by other tenants sleeping in the laundry room near the victim’s apartment, the complaint indicates.

The complaint notes that Lawrence is currently homeless, and due to his past with the victim, police believed he would likely make his way back to the victim’s apartment again.

Lawrence was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 1:45 p.m. on August 3 on the following charges:

– Stalking — Repeatedly Communicate To Cause Fear, Misdemeanor 1
– Harassment — Communicate Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment — Course of Conduct W/No Legitimate Purpose, Summary

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail with bail denied. The court document lists the bail action reason as “Flight risk. Defendant was apprehended at the bus station traveling to Mississippi.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on August 11, with Judge Kirtland presiding.

Court documents indicate Lawrence was sentenced to one year of probation on a third-degree misdemeanor harassment charge and a third-degree misdemeanor prowling charge followed by another year of probation on a misdemeanor drug possession charge on July 20 related to previous incidents in Venango County, including an incident where he allegedly harassed a local woman.
