CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A local man was arrested following a high speed chase in Cranberry Township on Sunday.

Court documents indicate the Franklin-based State Police filed criminal charges against 30-year-old Justin Allen Rozanski, of Cranberry.

According to a criminal complaint, around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, Franklin-based State Police observed a red sedan traveling westbound on Bredinsburg Road in Cranberry Township, Venango County, which reportedly “took off” at a high rate of speed when the patrol vehicle approached it.

It took the patrol vehicle approximately one mile, at speeds of over 90 miles per hour, to catch up to the sedan, which also reportedly crossed the double yellow center line on numerous occasions, and failed to stop at the stop sign located at the intersection of Bredinsburg Road and US 322, the complaint indicates.

The sedan then continued eastbound on US 322 at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, then made a right turn onto Victory Church Road, and later traveled onto Mays Mills Road. It then turned right onto Coal City Road and later turned right on East Sandy Road, the complaint continues.

While traveling on the no winter maintenance segment of East Sandy Road, the sedan began to smoke heavily, and when it reached the gate at the end of East Sandy Road, it attempted to enter the Cranberry/Rockland bike trail but got stuck on top of two large rocks used to keep motor vehicles off the trail. The driver then exited the vehicle and fled into the wooded area below the rail, according to the complaint.

The troopers then initiated a foot pursuit and were able to capture the driver, later identified as Justin Allen Rozanski, after he fell down a steep embankment.

According to the complaint, Rozanski admitted to police that he ran because he had methamphetamine and marijuana in the vehicle.

The complaint notes Rozanski also had an odor of alcohol on him and had fresh “track marks” on his right arm. He also reportedly admitted to police that he had used methamphetamine a few hours prior to the incident.

Rozanski was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, on the following charges:

– Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officer, Felony 3
– DUI: Controlled Substance — Impaired Ability — 1st Offense, Misdemeanor
– DUI: Controlled Substance — Combination Alcohol/Drugs — 1st Offense, Misdemeanor
– Turning Movements And Required Signals, Summary (two counts)
– Drive Unregistered Vehicle, Summary
– Display Plate Card In Improper Vehicle, Summary
– Reckless Driving, Summary
– Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary
– Duties At Stop Sign, Summary

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail with bail denied. The bail action reason is listed as “Flight risk. Will not appear. Will no comply with bail conditions.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on September 9, with Judge Kirtland presiding.
