MINERAL TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say an area man was arrested for intimidation of a witness in Mineral Township on Tuesday.

Franklin-based State Police say around 11:27 p.m. on April 6, Paul Stewart, 39, of Wattsburg, contacted a known 43-year-old female victim from Polk via text and voice calls attempting to persuade the victim to help him keep out of jail.

Police say an arrest warrant was then obtained through District Court 28-3-03.

Court documents indicate Stewart was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 4:35 p.m. on April 7, on one second-degree felony count of intimidate witness/victim to withhold testimony.

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail with bail denied due to unwillingness to “obey orders of the Bail Authority,” according to the court documents.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on April 14.

Court documents indicate Stewart is also due in the Forest County Court of Common Pleas on April 21, on charges related to an incident in Harmony Township last year where he allegedly choked a woman with a wire.
