SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin man was held for court on Wednesday on charges from an incident where he allegedly grabbed a woman and dragged her around, injuring her, and then held a knife to his own throat and threatened to kill himself.

Court documents indicate the following charges against 33-year-old Gregory Allan Anderson were held for court on September 15:

– Strangulation — Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

The charges have been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Anderson remains lodged in the Venango County Jail with bail denied due to being a “danger to others” and “will not comply with bail conditions,” according to the court documents.

The charges stem from an incident in Sugarcreek Borough earlier this month.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 1:40 a.m. on Friday, September 10, Venango County 9-1-1 contacted Franklin-based State Police regarding a call from a known individual reporting that a known juvenile had contacted her via Facebook Messenger and stated that Gregory Anderson had “bashed her mothers head in” and was “holding a knife to his head.”

Police proceeded to the scene and observed Anderson standing in the living room facing an open doorway. However, when police knocked at the door, it was answered by a known female victim who was “covered in blood” with blood still seeping from her forehead, the complaint indicates.

The victim told police Anderson was now in a bedroom and police called for Anderson to come out to the living room. He was subsequently taken into custody without further incident, according to the complaint.

Police then interviewed the victim who reportedly stated she had allowed Anderson to come to her residence even though she has an active Protection from Abuse (PFA) order against him. The victim told police she did this so Anderson could be with the children while she was away at work.

The complaint indicates the victim said that when she returned home from work and pulled into her driveway, Anderson jumped out in front of her car and she had to swerve to avoid hitting him. She reported that as she was exiting the vehicle, Anderson then grabbed her around her neck and dragged her toward her residence, and as they got close to the residence, they both fell to the ground and she got a cut on her forehead.

According to the complaint, the victim also reported that once they got inside the residence, Anderson retrieved a knife and held it to his throat, telling her “tell me you love me or I will kill myself.”

Anderson was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 4:45 a.m. on Friday, September 10.
