Melissa Jo Johnson, 48, of Knox, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019, at the Clarion Hospital following a two year battle with cancer.

Born December 31, 1970, Melissa was the daughter of the late Harold Wetzel and Joan Wetzel Patton.

Melissa graduated from Keystone High School in 1989 and Clarion University in 1994.

On July 1, 2000, Melissa married Scott Johnson who preceded her in death.

Melissa enjoyed music and crocheting. She spent most of her time playing computer games, chatting with friends, going to church and reading to and playing games with her children who were the light of her life.

Melissa is survived by her children Lawrence Best III of Harrisburg, Kaitlyn Johnson and her fiancé Nate Hepler of Knox, Hannah Johnson of Knox, JohnPaul Johnson of Knox and Thomas Johnson of Knox; a granddaughter Hadley Hepler and two sisters Lisa (John) Lieberum of Biglerville and Betsy (David) Allmendinger of Knox.

Along with her husband and parents Melissa was preceded in death by her step father Robert Patton Sr., an infant brother, her grandparents Benjamin and Mildred Wetzel, Wesley and Dorothy Ewing, a brother-in-law Stanley Botts and mother- and father-in-law William and Mary Ellen Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Knox United Methodist Church, 9729 Rt 338, Knox PA, with pastor Wade Barto of the Knox United Methodist Church and Pastor Gale Boocks former pastor of the church officiating.
