Mercer Man Arrested for Suspected DUI With 4-Year-Old Child in Vehicle

LACKAWANNOCK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Mercer man is facing DUI and child endangerment charges after police received multiple reports of an erratic driver on Interstate 80.

On Sunday, May 22, around 8:34 p.m., Mercer-based State Police were dispatched to Interstate 80, near State Route 19, in Lackawannock Township, Mercer County, for multiple complaints involving a Honda sedan traveling “all over the roadway.” Additionally, it was reported that the vehicle struck a semi-truck, a guardrail, and construction signs.

Police responded to the area and located the vehicle.

Upon making contact, the operator, a known Mercer man, showed apparent signs of impairment at the scene.

A four-year-old juvenile male was found in the rear of the vehicle with minor injuries.

The Mercer man was transported to Grove City Hospital for evaluation and a legal blood draw.

The juvenile was transported from the scene by police and returned to the custody of his mother.

Charges of Endangering the Welfare of Children, Reckless Endangerment, DUI, and other traffic offenses against the Mercer man are pending.
