STRATTANVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Millcreek Metals did not go away, but it did go online.

Recently, Millcreek Metals was renamed to MCM Windows & Doors to more accurately reflect what the business does. That also meant creating an online presence, something MCM had not done since it was founded in 1998.

“We shortened the name to be more accurate, explaining what we do,” said Operations Manager Bill Smith. “We got the website going, so we’re trying to get the name out there.”

“People were confused — thought we fabricated metals — but we do a lot more than that. We provide windows, interior and exterior doors, overhead doors, door openers, and we repair/build screens and can install new insulated glass units that are broken or fogged.”

Smith explained that MCM does most of its business selling Viwinco Windows.

Homeowners and contractors can get the windows through MCM.

“We’re the only local vendor for Viwinco Windows,” Smith said. “They used to be the manufacturer for Certainteed Windows, but when they changed ownership, they started putting their own name on them. These are high-quality windows with lifetime warranties.”

MCM ownership trimmed down since 1998. Jim Christie, Paul Reinsel, and Joe Ferguson started the business after purchasing the equipment from the former R&S Metals Co. Now, only Ferguson remains as one of the owners. Smith was brought on as operations manager last year.

“We do our best to not only provide the products, but we also work with the customer in getting the windows and doors installed, if they need help.” Smith said.

The new website has the slogan “Where quality is clearly the difference.” It boasts of its installation crew as having “over 40 years of experience.”

Visitors to the site can click on the project that matches their needs. Links lead to information about windows, doors, and garage doors. MCM is an authorized dealer for CHI Overhead Doors and Masonite Entry Doors. Because they install windows and doors, they can repair damaged ones. If a window in a patio door is fogged up or broken, they fix it. They also repair broken screens or cut new screens to replace badly damaged ones.

“It wasn’t hard choosing what to include on the website,” Smith said. “We took what we do day-to-day and highlighted it. We don’t want to get too carried away, so we’re going to concentrate on what we do best.”
