National Weather Service Confirms EF1 Tornado Near Dempseytown

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down near Dempseytown on Thursday.

A damage survey performed by a National Weather Service employee found that a brief EF1 tornado touched down along State Route 417 near Dempseytown around 4:55 p.m. on Thursday, July 29.

According to information from the National Weather Service Storm Reports, hardwood trees in the area were snapped off and uprooted.

The Storm Reports show an EF0 tornado was also confirmed around 4:40 p.m. the same day in the area of the intersection of Fowler Road and State Route 173 in Crawford County, near Cochranton.

Two barns sustained damage from the Crawford County tornado.
