New Downtown Franklin Mural to be Unveiled During Ceremony

| June 15, 2022

FRANKLIN, Pa. – The community is invited to attend the unveiling ceremony for the new mural installed on the side of the Barrow-Civic Theatre. The mural was created by students at the Franklin High School and panels were painted by community members and elementary classes.

The mural was installed earlier this month. It will be uncovered during a ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25. Along with unveiling the art, the event will include information on the project, and a history of the scene depicted in the mural.

“It took the people from throughout the community to complete the mural, so we hope the people from throughout the community will come to celebrate with us at the unveiling,” said Franklin art teacher Rachelle Surrena.

The ceremony will be held in front of the mural, which will be located on the exterior wall of the Barrow-Civic Theatre along the alley that runs between Liberty and Buffalo Streets.

The ceremony will also be live streamed on the Franklin Events and Marketing Facebook page.

The mural project was made possible by grants from the Venango Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Bridge Builders Foundation.
