Nyall R. “Ron” Schwab

Nyall R. “Ron” Schwab, 71, of Venus, Pinegrove Township, died at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Golden Living Center of Shippenville, following a period of declining health.

He was born on February 15, 1943 in Titusville to Alice (Biltz) Schwab and the late Nyall E. Schwab.

He attended Cranberry High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving from September 4, 1962 until his honorable discharge on September 2, 1965. He then continued his service in the Army Reserves through 1968.

Mr. Schwab attended Faith Lutheran Church in Venus.

Ron was a member of the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club and the N.R.A.

Ron was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, riding his four-wheeler, splitting wood, and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed wood crafts and building birdhouses, and was a NASCAR enthusiast.

He was employed for many years as a log skidder for Koppers Lumber Company in Marble.

Surviving are his mother, Alice Schwab of Venus; four sisters: Judy Slye of South Carolina, Deborah McClain and her husband Bill of Cooperstown, Sharon Fox and her husband John of Oil City, and Lynda Bauer of Venus; his nieces and nephews include Greg Slye and wife Brenda, Joshua Slye and wife Sarah, Johannah Hilferty and husband Isaiah, Melinda Musch and husband Kyle, Mandy Aaron and husband Patrick, Heather Bauer, Tyler Bauer and wife Sonal, Gene Zacheral, and Kent Zacheral.

He is also survived by two daughters, Nanette and Nicole; and a special family friend, Kenny Bigelow of Venus.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nyall E. Schwab.

There will be no visitation or services held.

The Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc. in Seneca, Cranberry Township is completing funeral arrangements.
