OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man has been arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman and threatening to kill her.

Court documents indicate that Oil City Police arrested 23-year-old Tyler Joseph Hutchinson, of 112 Mylan Street, Oil City, on Aggravated Assault and related charges stemming from an incident that occurred on June 18, 2014.

According to a Criminal Complaint, on June 18, 2014, between 12:30 p.m. and 12:50 p.m., the female victim drove north on Mylan Street and stopped in front 112 Mylan Street and beeped her horn for a known male to come out of the house and get into her van. After she beeped, she saw Tyler Hutchinson come out of the house yelling at her and allegedly pointing a black handgun at her and yelled, “Don’t honk your horn in front of my house or I will…kill you.” These were his words that he allegedly verified with police that he used when officers spoke to him on that day but said he did not have a gun.

On June 18, 2014, Hutchinson showed police a black handgun and an empty clip with a sale receipt that he had purchased the gun a few days prior. It was upstairs on his dresser. At that time, a known female also said that Tyler did not have his gun.

On June 23, 2014, an eye witness (who was in the house with Hutchinson) stated that when he arrived at approximately 12:30 p.m. that day, Hutchinson and a known female were arguing, and after the victim beeped the horn, Hutchinson instantly ran upstairs and grabbed his gun and came back downstairs and pushed the witness out of the way and went onto his porch where he pointed his gun at the in the van and yelled, “beep the horn again and I’ll kill you in front of your children!” The witness then allegedly intervened by putting his arm on Hutchinson’s chest and telling him to go back into the house which he did. This gave the victim time to leave, according to the witness.

The witness also informed officers that the handgun that Hutchinson had used towards the victim was bigger than the one he had purchased a few day earlier. He said that Hutchinson keeps that gun close to him and loaded with hollow point rounds.

The firearm Hutchinson showed officers was the smaller 9mm that he had just purchased. Officers did not see another firearm, and when asked, Hutchinson stated that he did not have another gun.

Based on the information from the victim and the witness, Oil City Police Officer David A. Ragon requested an arrest warrant for Hutchinson.

During a preliminary arraignment on July 25, he was charged with the following offenses:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Terroristic Threats W/ Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Comm. Lewd, Threatening, Etc., Language Misdemeanor 3

Unable to Post $50,000.00 Bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. in Central Court in front of Magisterial District Judge Douglas I. Dinberg.
