OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An local man is behind bars after he allegedly fired a handgun during a domestic dispute in Oil City on Thursday.

Court documents indicate the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 20-year-old Jacob Thomas Crose, of Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, around 7:13 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, Oil City Police were dispatched to a residence on Jefferson Street for a report of a domestic incident involving a man who had fired a handgun.

At the scene, police made contact with the victims who reported Jacob Crose had approached them in the alleyway by the residence.

The complaint notes one of the victims has a current Protection from Abuse (PFA) order against Crose.

According to the complaint, the victims reported Crose brandished a black handgun, then discharged it and fled the area, going back to his own residence approximately one-half block away.

Police then went to Crose’s residence, made contact with Crose, and detained him.

The complaint indicates that during a conversation with police, Crose admitted he had taken a firearm to the location indicated by the victims, where two known individuals were having a verbal dispute and had discharged it.

Police were then given consent to search the residence and were reportedly able to locate the firearm, described as a silver and black Smith and Wesson handgun, in the garage.

The complaint notes police were also able to recover the spent casing in the area where the incident occurred. They also obtained a photograph of the ground where it is believed the bullet struck.

After taking Crose into custody, police also verified the PFA in place against Crose was still current, according to the complaint.

Crose was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, on the following charges:

– Firearms Not To Be Carried Without License, Felony 3

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail with bail denied due to a threat to victims and has been out on bail on other charges, according to the court documents.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 am. on September 15, in Venango County Central Court with Judge Fish presiding.

Court documents indicate Crose is also scheduled to stand for an Omnibus Pre-Trial Motion Hearing in front of President Judge Oliver J. Lobaugh on December 9 in relation to a case involving misdemeanor drug and paraphernalia possession charges from an incident in March.
