SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man is facing felony burglary and related charges in relation to the investigation into a motorcycle that was stolen from a garage in the Sugarcreek Borough area.

Court documents indicate the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 30-year-old David Samuel Adams.

According to a criminal complaint, on July 13, 2018, Lieutenant Ashbaugh, of the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department, was dispatched to a residence on Venango Street for a report of a theft from a secured garage.

The victim reported that when he left for work at 5:55 a.m., the garage was secure, but when he got home around 3:00 p.m., the garage door was open. The victim reported a chainsaw and a motorcycle were missing from the garage. The motorcycle was described as a white 2009 Kawasaki, and a registration and VIN number were provided.

Lieutenant Ashbaugh found there was forced entry into the garage through a window on an entry door.

According to the complaint, Lieutenant Ashbaugh then spoke to two known individuals who gave information that David Samuel Adams took the bike and they had heard Adams and a known female had traveled to Ohio with the bike, but they could not confirm that.

Another individual was interviewed who allegedly stated Adams was at his residence, near the victim’s residence, the night/morning that the bike was taken.

The complaint notes that on July 19, 2018, the stolen motorcycle was recovered in a wooded area off Cubbon Lane in Oil City. It was secured and transported for processing.

On July 23, 2018, Corporal Lynch, of the Pennsylvania State Police, arrived at the Sugarcreek Borough Police station to process the motorcycle for fingerprints and was able to recover prints from the bike, which were then submitted to AFIS for review.

According to the complaint, on February 27, 2019, Lieutenant Ashbaugh received confirmation from the Pennsylvania State Police that after the fingerprints were submitted to AFIS, the prints came back to David Samuel Adams.

Lieutenant Ashbaugh received the report from Corporal Lynch of the processing of the motorcycle in May 2019.

On November 12, 2019, it was determined that probable cause existed for the filing of charges.

Adams was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, on the following charges:

– Burglary — Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 3
– Unauthorized Use Motor/Other Vehicles, Misdemeanor 2

Unable to post $5,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, in Venango County Central Court with Judge Lowrey presiding.
