Oil City Man Injured As SUV Slams into Tree Off Route 62

FRENCHCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say an Oil City man was injured in a one-vehicle crash on Route 62 on Friday morning.

According to police, the accident happened around 9:44 a.m. on Friday, January 22, on Mercer Road (Route 62), in Frenchcreek Township, Venango County.

Police say 44-year-old Terry L. Pastorius, of Oil City, was traveling northbound on Route 62, negotiating a left curve in the roadway, and for unknown reasons, his 2013 Ford Escape exited off the roadway to the right. The Ford hit a ditch along the eastern berm of the northbound lane and continued traveling along the ditch approximately 50 feet when it hit a drainage ditch culvert. It rotated counterclockwise off the roadway on an embankment along the eastern berm of the northbound lane of the roadway and then struck a tree and stopped.

Police say Pastorius suffered suspected minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

He was using a seat belt.

The vehicle’s airbags did not deploy.

He was charged with a traffic violation.

Polk Volunteer Fire Department, Community Ambulance Service, and Lowrey’s Towing assisted at the scene.
