Oil City School Board to Make Decision on the Fate of Oakland Elementary at May Meeting

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — Oil City Area School Board will make its final decision on the future of Oakland Elementary School at the upcoming May 19 school board meeting.

The elementary school, located in the Dempseytown area, has been included as part of the revamping plan of the districts. The plan also suggest the construction of a new school, probably at a location near the high school.

Estimates were shown that concluded the shutdown of Oakland would save the district more than $260,000 in the first year.

The next school board meeting will be held May 12 at Oil City High School.

The May 19 meeting will be held at the auditorium at the high school.
